What is Runner of The Month & how is it chosen?
For many years now Leighton Fun Runners has chosen a Runner of The Month. This is a person whom the Captain's team believe deserves to be recognised.
Nominations can be made by members. These nominations will be considered but it doesn't mean their nomination will be chosen. It will definitely be considered along with those already being thought about.
Since February 2020 the Runner of The Month has specifically been chosen based upon:
- Recent running achievements
- How they have used club sessions to get to this point
- Do they contribute to the club
- LFR Spirit
When there is more than 1 candidate being considered for a month, then the winner will be selected taking all criteria into account. Some months only one member may stand out and in that case not all measures need to be reached. The final decision lies with the Captain's team.
No one is ever overlooked for their achievements.
August Runner of The Month
Our August RoTM is Dougie. Congratulations Dougie!
Dougie joined Leighton Fun Runners in early 2020 and a year later became Vice Captain and heavily involved in the club, being a regular run leader & volunteer at many events.
There are few people who have as much LFR spirit as Dougie and he's always 100% supportive of all. He's had an amazing year of running achievements which included 5k, 10k and half marathon PBs by March, and then more recently he took on a challenge of taking on an ultra or 2! Dougie ran a cracking performance at Greensands, 34 miles coming in 3rd, then a few weeks later he took on Race to The Stones, 62 miles on an extremely hot day completing it in a little over 13 hours. We’re in awe of your accomplishments & courage.
Congratulations to Dougie as being chosen as our August Runner of the Month.
