What is Runner of The Month & how is it chosen?
For many years now Leighton Fun Runners has chosen a Runner of The Month. This is a person whom the Captain's team believe deserves to be recognised.
Nominations can be made by members. These nominations will be considered but it doesn't mean their nomination will be chosen. It will definitely be considered along with those already being thought about.
Since February 2020 the Runner of The Month has specifically been chosen based upon:
- Recent running achievements
- How they have used club sessions to get to this point
- Do they contribute to the club
- LFR Spirit
When there is more than 1 candidate being considered for a month, then the winner will be selected taking all criteria into account. Some months only one member may stand out and in that case not all measures need to be reached. The final decision lies with the Captain's team.
No one is ever overlooked for their achievements.
March Runner of The Month
OUR MARCH RUNNER OF THE MONTH IS DEBBIE MCMILLAN
CONGRATULATIONS DEBBIE!
Debbie started her running journey a few years ago through the club’s C25K programme. She's often taken part in the odd 10k race over the years but more recently we saw a change. Over the last few months, Debbie has pushed her own boundaries running in the cross-country races and has just completed her first half marathon at Brighton whilst supporting other members on their first half too. She'll soon be running a 2nd half marathon at Kew Gardens supporting another member as they run their first. On top of this Debbie has given time back to the club and started run leading regularly, and with the guidance of Andy has helped members increase fitness to run their first 10ks and increase their pace at the same time.
